Listening is very important when learning English. We can divide the listening exercises into two. The first of these is light listening to create ear fullness, and the second is purposeful listening. Listening in the first group is simple. No additional effort or time is required.
Listening in the second group requires effort and time. During such listening, it is important to listen, to take notes, to look at the transcription when necessary, to learn the unknown words and phrases by researching them, to pay close attention to the pronunciation, to notice the accents and even to repeat the words and sentences.
Unknown words should never be ignored while doing listening exercises. Moreover, not only unknown words, but also foreign expression patterns and idioms should be carefully learned and noted.
