Strong Girls is a mobile platform that brings together volunteers and Turkish female students for free online English speaking practice. In addition to providing the mobile application, the program also aims to increase information sharing among women by supporting users in their English learning journey with various activities.
Who Can Participate?
Girls who are Turkish citizens and live in Turkey as students can participate in the program. There is no age limit, but for people under the age of 18 to become a member, parental consent is required by e-mail.
In order to be a student in the program, you need to have a basic level of English knowledge, the volunteers are not teachers, so if you do not know any English, they are not equipped to teach from scratch.
How can I join the program?
The program is completely free and to participate in the program, it is enough to register as a volunteer or student via the mobile application. If you have registered as a student, after registration, you can send a message to any volunteer from the eligible volunteer list, and the match will be made automatically once the volunteer answers.
Do I Have to Pay Fees?
No, the program is completely free. Those who want to benefit the education of girls take part in this platform voluntarily.
How long is the course duration?
After being matched with a volunteer, the interview begins via the app. The volunteer's commitment to you is for 10 lessons. After you have finished 10 lessons, you can send a request to the same or another volunteer. Don't forget to mark the lesson as "completed" after each lesson to set the next lesson!
On Which Platform Are The Lessons Held?
After setting a suitable time with the volunteer, you can chat over the application and decide how you will conduct the lessons (For example, Skype, Whatsapp, Facetime, etc.).
What else is there besides education?
Talks titled "Leadership Stories from Inspiring Women" are held live on the @bizguclukizlariz Instagram account approximately once a month. These interviews feature career women on their career journeys and the impact of their knowledge of English on their success, tips on lessons with program volunteers, and advice for improving English speaking. Strong Girls also organize charitable events at various times. A charity piano concert was held in April and 17 students registered in the mobile application were given a 1-month online English course from English Time Language Schools.
Other events are planned in the coming months, including open-air face-to-face workshops in several cities in the summer.
